Biking with Indra

In order to build more stamina and endurance I’ve started biking with Indra. It was her very first time and she did not have any problems at all doing and really seems to like it. We went along the Highway and she had no problems with the cars, trucks or choppers either. It was so much fun going biking, however I have to get a new saddle because it looks like that it got damaged during the move.
Once I’ve got a new one I am planning to go on a bike ride regularly. Some people looked at us like we are from the moon but that is okay, as long nobody runs us over I am happy 🙂
Other than that, things are going well. Hopefully we can close on the house soon. Finally the last paperwork went to the VA Mortgage Center and they ordered the appraisal. That should have happened a long time ago, before my husband went into the field…so we probably have to wait another month before we can move in. 
There is a Wide Area Search Training coming up and it’s being held by Homeland Security. Only problem is that I am not an American Citizen and need prior approval to go there. So I gave them a call to find out if I can participate or not. That I am a Greencard Holder a member of a SAR Team in NY and would really like to participate. Let’s see how that is going to work out. 
Tomorrow I am going to meet up with C. to work with Indra. First Obedience, than Swissies, and after that some Pop-Ups and a Blind Search. We will definitely keep working on the basic foundation since that is the most important part and one of the reason why she is where she is. 
However, I am planning to get the CGC on her within the next two months. It’s a prerequisite for the 5 Acre Search Test which is the first Certification of many to come… 🙂

Farewell my friends, Farewell!

I am not good at saying good bye and this one is going to be tough. We became such good friends and I got so used to Audie that it’s going to be very quiet without him. It’s been quite an experience to have him around. He’s a big ole’baby and spends most of his life on the couch or in bed.
For three months we gave Audie a home. When they came back we shared a house with them and the rest of the dogs. So for a month we’ve had seven dogs in the house and I am surprised how well they got along with each other. Three Dachshunds, one Great Dane and three German Shepherds make an interesting pack. 
It was never boring, there was always something going on and I am really going to miss them. 
So yeah, they are going to leave tomorrow. Not sure when we will meet again but the military world is a small world and I am sure we’ll meet again. Bekah, is definitely one of my best friends in the US and I am happy to call her a friend. 
Have a safe trip to Georgia, we will meet again. If it gets to boring, I simply pack up the dogs and come for a visit 😉

Neues aus dem Amiland

PhotobucketQ. ist im Feld. Seit drei Wochen bin ich also mehr oder weniger alleine mit zwei Freunden und deren vier Hunde “on top of” meinen drei. Drei Dackel, eine Riesendogge und drei Schaeferhunde und sie kommen alle super miteinander klar.
Das Wetter ist eher durchwachsen. Die letzten beiden Tage waren regnerisch und ein Sturm fegte ueber uns hinweg. Das Haus aechzte, wackelte, knarrte und teilweise donnerte der Wind gegen die Fenster das wir Angst hatten sie wuerden zerspringen. Gluecklicherweise flaute der Wind am Vormittag ab und nur der Regen blieb zurueck.

Judge machte uns gestern Sorgen. Der Bub hat sich mit Yukon am Futter vergriffen. Was mich aergert, das ist das zweite Mal das meine Freunde die Futterkammer nicht richtig zugemacht haben. Ich habs nicht mal mitbekommen weil ich im Badezimmer war und waerend Rich und Bekah auf der Couch sassen und Fernsehen schauten, vergriffen sich die beiden genuesslich am Futter. 

Mir fiel sofort auf das was nicht stimmte. Er war unruhig, lief auf und ab, versuchte sich zu uebergeben, sein Magen war steinhart und aufgeblasen. Ohne gross nachzudenken hab ich ihn mir geschnappt und wir sind zum TA gerast. Auf dem Hinweg hat er sich vier Mal uebergeben. Der TA hatte ihn dann geroentgt und es stellte sich raus das er sich einfach nur total ueberfressen hatte. 

Als wir wieder zuhause ankamen fiel mir Yukons Bauch auf und ich konnte einfach nicht fassen das Rich ueberhaupt nichts gemerkt hat. Er war die ganze Zeit da, die Futterkammer ist direkt hinter der Couch und er merkt nichts. Maenner eben… mehr faellt mir dazu einfach nicht ein. 
Nachts hatten sie beide Durchfall und gegen vier Uhr morgens hab ich dann den Trainern vom SAR Team abgesagt. Ich haette sie weder im Auto lassen koennen, noch konnte ich sie mit Rich und Bekah alleine lassen.
